ManyChat Pricing in 2026: What You Will Actually Pay

ManyChat’s price depends less on which features you pick than on how many people have ever interacted with your automations. Understanding that one idea tells you more about your future bill than the plan names do.

How ManyChat pricing works

ManyChat charges according to the size of your contact list. A contact is, broadly, a person who has started a conversation with your automation: someone who commented a keyword and received a DM, replied to a Story, or messaged your account. Your plan sets how many contacts are included, and going past that number costs more, either through overage or a move to a higher tier.

That makes ManyChat different from tools that charge a flat fee per connected account or a fee per message sent. The practical result is that a post which performs well does two things at once: it brings you more leads and it raises your software bill. This is not a hidden trick, since ManyChat publishes the model, but it is the part many buyers do not model until the first big month.

The tiers, as reported during 2026

These approximate figures come from third-party pricing guides published in 2026. Where those guides disagree, we show a range rather than pick one.

  • Free: about 25 active contacts. Enough to test the mechanic, not enough to run a campaign.
  • Essential: roughly $14 to $17 a month for around 250 contacts.
  • Pro: roughly $29 to $39 a month for around 2,500 contacts.
  • Business: roughly $69 a month for around 7,500 contacts.
  • Advanced: roughly $139 to $199 a month for around 25,000 contacts.

Guides also report per-contact overage once you pass your allowance, and that accounts created before March 2, 2026 may still sit on older plans, including a legacy Pro price of about $15. If you are comparing your own invoice to a blog post, including this one, the plan you signed up under may explain the difference.

What one good Reel does to the bill

Picture a small creator with 1,800 contacts on a tier that includes 2,500. They post a Reel asking people to comment a keyword for a free guide. It does well and 1,500 new people comment. Their list is now 3,300, past the allowance, so they pay overage or move up a tier. Nothing about the product changed. Their audience grew, and the price followed.

Whether that is fair depends on your margin per contact. A store earning real money from each lead will happily pay it. A creator giving away a free checklist to people who may never buy anything can end up paying more each month for a list that earns little. This is why contact-based pricing feels great to some teams and painful to others, and why the same tool gets opposite reviews.

A related effect shows up in behaviour: once people see contacts as a cost, they start deleting old ones or holding back on broad campaigns. The wider comparison of contact, message and flat pricing is in Instagram DM automation pricing explained.

Estimate your real bill in four steps

  1. Count how many comments your best post of the last six months received. That is a fair proxy for how many contacts one campaign can add.
  2. Multiply by the number of keyword campaigns you plan to run in a year, then remove a third or so for people who comment on more than one.
  3. Add your current list. The total is where your contact count could be in twelve months.
  4. Find the tier that fits that total on the live pricing page, and multiply by twelve. Compare that number with the value of the leads, not with today’s price.

If you do not yet know what a lead is worth, work that out first. A simple method is in Instagram DM automation metrics and ROI.

When ManyChat is worth the money

Paying more is often the right call. ManyChat has a mature visual flow builder and covers several channels, so you are paying for more than a keyword rule. It tends to earn its price when your situation looks like this:

  • Your conversations truly branch, with qualification questions and different paths for different answers.
  • You need several channels in one place, such as Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp.
  • Each lead carries enough margin that per-contact cost barely registers.
  • Someone on the team will own and maintain the flows over time.

When a flat price fits better

If your whole funnel is “someone comments a word, they get a link in their DMs”, you are using a small part of a large product and paying by audience size for it. That is when a narrower flat-price tool makes sense. It does less by design, and the bill stays the same whether a post gets ten comments or ten thousand.

SocialAutoDM is one such tool. It costs $3.99 a month per connected account, with no contact limit to manage, and it covers Instagram Business and Creator accounts and Facebook Pages through Meta’s official APIs. It does not have a flow canvas, broadcasts, email or a chatbot, so it is not a like-for-like replacement if you rely on those. You can see exactly what it does in the two-minute platform tour, and the full terms are on the pricing page. Before you switch or upgrade

  • Look at your invoice, not the pricing page. You may be on a legacy plan that a switch or upgrade would end.
  • Ask whether your contacts are active. Some people pay for lists that have not engaged in a long time.
  • List the flows that actually make money. If it is one or two keyword rules, you can rebuild them in an afternoon anywhere.
  • Run the free tier of anything new against a real post before moving your best campaigns.

Whatever you choose, make sure it connects through Meta’s official login and never asks for your password. Our buyer’s guide to DM automation software covers the other checks worth making before you pay.

Frequently asked questions

How much does ManyChat cost per month?
Third-party guides from 2026 report a free tier of about 25 active contacts, Essential at roughly $14 to $17, Pro at roughly $29 to $39, Business at about $69 and Advanced at roughly $139 to $199. Your cost depends mainly on contact count, so check manychat.com/pricing for current figures.
What counts as a contact in ManyChat?
Broadly, a person who has interacted with your automation, for example by commenting a keyword and receiving a DM. See ManyChat’s own documentation for the exact definition on your plan, including how active contacts are counted.
Is ManyChat free for Instagram?
There is a free tier, but reports put it at around 25 active contacts, which suits testing rather than a real campaign. One successful post can use that allowance quickly.
Is there a cheaper alternative to ManyChat?
Yes, particularly if you only need comment-to-DM keyword rules. Flat-price tools such as SocialAutoDM at $3.99 a month per account do not charge by contact, though they offer far fewer features than a multi-channel platform.
